NEWARK, Del. — A school resource officer at Glasgow High School arrested three students Wednesday morning after discovering a stolen, loaded handgun in a student’s backpack. The incident prompted a swift police response but ended without injuries to students or staff.
Gun Discovered Following Tip from School Staff
According to the Delaware State Police, the incident occurred around 9:19 a.m. on December 3, 2025, after school staff alerted the on-duty School Resource Officer (SRO) that three students had been overheard discussing a “trap,” a term often used to refer to a firearm.
The students — identified as a 15-year-old male, a 17-year-old male, and 18-year-old Troy Alston — were escorted to the main office for questioning.
When the SRO approached the 15-year-old student, he attempted to flee, sparking a brief struggle in the hallway. The 17-year-old student and Alston reportedly grabbed the officer from behind in an effort to prevent the arrest.
All three were ultimately taken into custody after additional officers responded to the scene.
