Paynesville Man Seriously Injured After Being Run Over by Tractor in Farm Accident

PAYNESVILLE, Minn. — A 30-year-old man from Paynesville was seriously injured Sunday evening after being run over by a tractor during a farm accident northwest of town, according to the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office.

Accident Details

Authorities say the incident occurred around 6 p.m. in the 29800 block of Dolphin Drive, just northwest of Paynesville. The victim, Jerrod Quade, was reportedly demonstrating how to start a Case International 4230 tractor for a neighbor when the accident happened.

Deputies said Quade had positioned the tractor inside a pole shed and was standing in front of the back right tire. When the tractor started, it was still in gear and lurched forward, knocking him to the ground and running over him.

Emergency Response and Injuries

Emergency crews arrived quickly after receiving the call. Quade was first transported by ambulance to Paynesville Hospital for treatment and later airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis for advanced care.

Officials described his injuries as serious but not life-threatening. No other individuals were injured in the incident.

Ongoing Safety Reminder

The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the accident but noted that it appears to have been an unfortunate mechanical oversight rather than foul play.

Authorities are using this incident as a reminder for farmers and equipment operators to check gear settings and engage safety mechanisms before starting heavy machinery, especially during off-season maintenance or demonstrations.

As Quade continues to recover, local residents have expressed their concern and support for his family.
