Former “Real Housewives of Potomac” Star Mia Thornton Arrested at Atlanta Airport

ATLANTA, Ga. – Former reality TV star Mia Fields-Thornton, known for her appearance on “The Real Housewives of Potomac,” has been arrested at Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport on a felony theft charge, according to police and jail records.

Authorities say officers with Atlanta Police Department’s Airport Unit were called to the Customs and Border Protection office after receiving notice of a wanted individual. The suspect was later identified as Fields-Thornton, who was taken into custody without incident.

Details of the Alleged Theft

According to the police report obtained by CBS News Atlanta, the arrest stems from an investigation involving a condo on Marietta Street in Atlanta. The condo’s management company reported that Fields-Thornton and another individual, Jared McGriff, “moved out in the middle of the night” on October 28, allegedly taking furniture and a television set valued at approximately $11,000.

Records from the Fulton County Jail confirm Fields-Thornton faces a felony charge of theft by taking.

“She acknowledged she was aware of the outstanding warrant,” investigators noted in the arrest affidavit, referencing police body camera footage that showed the moment of her arrest at the airport.

Background and Public Response

Fields-Thornton, who joined the Bravo series during its sixth season, gained notoriety for her outspoken personality and high-profile lifestyle. In April 2025, she announced she would not be returning to the show and had relocated to Atlanta to pursue new business ventures.

Fans reacted with shock to the news on social media, with many expressing disbelief over the charges. The network has not issued any public statement.

Legal Status

As of Wednesday evening, Fields-Thornton remained in Fulton County Jail pending a court appearance. Her co-defendant, McGriff, has not yet been publicly charged in connection with the case.

Authorities continue to investigate whether additional items were taken from the rental property.
