CHICAGO, Ill. – Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a man accused of punching a woman multiple times during an unprovoked attack inside a retail store in the city’s Kelvyn Park neighborhood earlier this fall.
According to the Chicago Police Department (CPD), the incident occurred around 11:25 a.m. on September 10 inside a business located in the 4700 block of West Fullerton Avenue on the Northwest Side.
Details of the Attack
Investigators said the suspect entered the store and assaulted a 53-year-old woman, striking her repeatedly in the face before walking out and heading east toward Fullerton Avenue.
The motive for the attack remains unclear, and authorities have not released information suggesting the victim and suspect knew one another. The woman was treated for injuries sustained in the assault, but police have not disclosed her condition.
“This type of random violence is unacceptable in our community,” a CPD spokesperson said. “We’re urging anyone who recognizes the suspect to contact detectives immediately.”
Suspect Description and Surveillance Images
Police described the suspect as an African American male between 18 and 25 years old. He was last seen wearing:
- A black sweater with the words “Just Do It” printed on the right sleeve
- Gray pants
- White shoes
Surveillance images released by CPD show the suspect inside the store shortly before the assault. Investigators hope the clear photos will help generate leads from the public.
Ongoing Investigation
Detectives from Area Five are leading the investigation. Officers have canvassed nearby businesses for additional security footage and are reviewing surveillance from the area to track the suspect’s movements after he fled the scene.
Police have not yet identified a motive but say the suspect appeared to act alone. Authorities are also determining whether the same individual may be connected to any similar incidents in the area.

Anyone with information that could assist in identifying or locating the suspect is urged to contact Area Five Detectives at 312-746-6554 or submit an anonymous tip via CPDTip.com, referencing case number JJ-409087.
