Portland, Oregon — With the recent arrest of an Estacada man, the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office claims to have made the greatest narcotics bust in its history, thanks in part to the FBI.
On May 24, MCSO deputies pursued a rental vehicle driven by 29-year-old Anthony Barrera, who was returning from California to Oregon, after learning of his plans to sell and distribute large quantities of cocaine.
Barrera was apprehended by authorities and the FBI at a rest stop near Cottage Grove and jailed.
When deputies and agents searched the truck, officials discovered more than 278 pounds of meth and two pounds of cocaine.
Later that day, authorities examined Barrera’s residence and discovered two weapons stashed beneath the closet floor.
Barrera appeared in Federal Court in Portland on Tuesday. A United States Magistrate Judge ordered that he be detained awaiting additional court procedures.
