Madison County, Mississippi – According to Madison and Rankin County District Attorney Bubba Bramlett, a Florence woman has pleaded guilty to poisoning an elderly man with fentanyl.
Bramlett stated that Dixie Cheyenne White, 31, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault as a habitual offender. She was sentenced to 20 years in the Mississippi Department of Corrections’ (MDOC) custody without the chance of release.
Ridgeland police received a call on June 14, 2023, reporting a guy suffering from a narcotic overdose. The man stated that a woman named Dixie poisoned him and took his car. The man explained that he met the woman at a Food Depot in Jackson, and she offered to come back to his house to work on his truck with him.
When he was released from the hospital, investigators met with him again and learned that his iPhone, two firearms, and two credit cards had gone missing. Using tag readers across the region, Bramlett said officers were able to locate the stolen vehicle at the Food Depot, which had numerous persons inside, including White.
She was seized and questioned about her knowledge of the stolen car. According to Bramlett, White told detectives she met the elderly guy and convinced him she could work on his truck. She added that later that night, she slipped fentanyl into a soda drink to put him to sleep. While he was sleeping, she stole his pistols, credit cards, and automobile.
“It’s a miracle the 84-year-old victim in this case lived after unknowingly swallowing fentanyl. The defendant could have easily killed this old guy in her attempt to knock him out and rob him blind. I’d want to thank the Ridgeland Police Department’s investigations for their efforts in locating his property and apprehending the perpetrator,” Bramlett stated.
