Several families lost everything in their homes when they were destroyed by fire.
At about 1:48 BST on Sunday, the fire quickly went through a row of homes in Dutson, which is close to Launceston. Everyone made it out of the building without getting hurt, and dozens of firemen put out the fire.
What the Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service (CFRS) needs now are clothes for the families. You can give money at the New Market Inn in Launceston.
An official from CFRS said that the fire was “a major incident with a huge emergency response.”
They also said: “A devastating outcome for the occupants of the properties who have lost all their belongings, but most importantly all safe and accounted for.”
The landlord of the five houses is Crispin Sobey. Three of the houses were badly burned in the fire.
He told the BBC, “When I got there, there were only about six fire trucks and about thirty firefighters using hoses to try to put out the fire.”
“They still hadn’t caught the high part of the barn. I kind of hoped they could contain it, but I think it was so on fire that they couldn’t.”
“They were dowsing it, trying to keep the fire away from the adjacent buildings but they caught fire.”
He said that two close homes had been spared damage from the fire but that three had been badly damaged.
He said that he hoped one of them could be saved, but that he thought the other two would have to be torn down and changed with new buildings.
The CFRS official also said that the Padstow Community Fire Station stayed on the scene all day to put out fires and keep an eye on hotspots.
