Delaware Man charged after He allegedly set his Girlfriend on Fire; Victim in Critical condition

A woman from Delaware is in severe condition after her boyfriend allegedly lit her on fire.

In the early morning hours of April 20, Delaware State Police responded to a distress call from a woman in Georgetown, a city about 40 miles south of Dover.

Troopers arrived to find a 44-year-old lady “suffering from severe burns to a large portion of her body,” according to a DSP press release.

She was brought to a local hospital and is still struggling for her life, according to authorities.

At the same time, the DSP and the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office launched a joint investigation into the incident.

Police claim that throughout their inquiry, they discovered that the victim had allegedly fought that night with her boyfriend, 42-year-old Keith Morrison.

As the confrontation heated up, Morrison allegedly “threw an unknown liquid on the victim and set her on fire,” according to the announcement.

Morrison then departed the home, according to police, leaving his girlfriend alone and forced to call for help while still attempting to put out the fire.

According to the announcement, shortly after police cleared the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital, they located Morrison hiding in a nearby field.

Police apprehended Morrison and accused him with attempted murder, while the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office charged him with felony arson.

Court records show that he is presently being held at the Sussex Correctional Institution on a $1,000,000 cash bond.

Both police and firefighters claim that the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
