ATHENS, Alabama — The Athens Police Department says two persons were detained last week after investigators discovered around 45 pounds of marijuana at a Limestone County home.
According to APD, David Lee Johnson, 58, and Brenda Jean Lucas, 53, were detained and charged with cannabis trafficking after a search of Johnson’s house on Friday.
According to the department, narcotics investigators from APD and the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office began investigating Johnson about a month ago. Authorities said they accused Johnson, a truck driver, of transporting huge amounts of marijuana from out of state.
APD reported that on April 18, officers conducted a search warrant at Johnson’s residence on Wales Road in Limestone County. According to the agency, officers discovered around 45 pounds of marijuana, 656 consumable THC items, eight long guns, six pistols, and $2,542 in US currency.
Johnson and Lucas were released on April 20 after posting $100,000 bonds.
