South Carolina Mother Stabbed Newborn to Death while Giving Birth and Tossed Remains in Plastic Bags: Police

Honk News (Easley, SC) – A South Carolina woman faces serious allegations in connection with the tragic death of her newborn son.

An T. Ngo, 31, is accused of fatally stabbing her newborn son with a “long, metal letter opener” during childbirth on March 7, as detailed in an arrest warrant related to the incident.

Following the birth, Ngo severed the umbilical cord and proceeded to attack her newborn son, as stated in the warrant.

Officer Melissa Yates from the Easley Police Department reports in the warrant that Ngo concealed the newborn’s body in a plastic bag before relocating the remains to a different room.

The infant was pronounced deceased at the location, while Ngo was swiftly taken to the hospital for medical care.

Authorities took Ngo into custody on March 11 following her discharge from the hospital. Ngo made her initial court appearance at Easley Municipal Court on the same day, where it was recorded that she faced charges of homicide by child abuse and was denied bail by the presiding judge.

Ngo remains in custody as she prepares for her upcoming court date on May 15.

On Tuesday, the Easley Police Department convened a press briefing to address the case.

“In my 25 years of service, I have never encountered anything as horrific as this,” stated Police Chief Brandon Liner. “This is unprecedented.”
