Authorities in Bloomington apprehended Gillis during an undercover operation targeting child exploitation on August 7, following his attempt to meet someone he believed to be a 15-year-old boy. In that scenario, he set up a meeting with someone he believed to be a 14-year-old boy, according to deputies.
In October, just following his second arrest in an undercover operation, Bloomington Police Chief Booker Hodges issued a warning to the community regarding Gillis.
