Honk News (Chicago, IL) – A child sustained a head injury and was taken to a nearby hospital, where they are reported to be in fair condition, according to police reports.
A 4-year-old girl has remarkably survived a fall from a 10th-floor apartment window in Chicago’s South Side, according to officials.
A child fell from a 13-story building located in the 4500 block of South Drexel Boulevard in Bronzeville on Tuesday, March 11, just before 11 a.m. local time, as confirmed by the Chicago Police Department in a statement.
Authorities reported that the individual, whose identity remains undisclosed, sustained a head injury and was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital, where their condition is described as fair. There were no additional injuries reported.
Details about her condition remain unknown.
Authorities are looking into the matter, alongside the Department of Children and Family Services, according to reports.
A resident of the building shared with the outlet that the apartment windows can be challenging to open, but she recognizes the possible danger for small children.
“I make sure they don’t go towards the window because it’s scary living in a high-rise building and you got kids and they like to be curious and it’s kind of scary,” the woman said.

A tragic incident occurred as the boy was transported to Advocate Illinois Masonic Hospital, where he ultimately did not survive.
