Honk News (Leitchfield, KY) – A daycare worker in Kentucky has been arrested following allegations that she confessed to yanking a toddler’s hair and “removing a substantial amount of hair from the child’s head,” according to local authorities.
Kesha Cochran, 24, was taken into custody after an incident at a daycare in Leitchfield, Ky., on Tuesday, March 11, according to a statement from the Leitchfield Police Department. Court documents reveal her identity as Keshia Cochran.
Authorities launched an investigation following a report concerning an injured 1-year-old at the daycare, ultimately concluding that the nature of the injury was deemed “suspicious,” according to the statement.
Footage from the facility revealed that Cochran was supervising a group of young children when she approached a 1-year-old child, whose identity has not been disclosed by authorities, and — apparently without any provocation — yanked the child’s hair.
Authorities reported that the victim “started screaming uncontrollably.” Recent findings uncovered that the child had a bald area measuring more than 6 centimeters on their scalp.

Following the act of pulling the child’s hair, the footage revealed Cochran seemingly discarding what authorities suspect to be a “handful of hair” into the trash.
In her interview, Cochran confessed to having “intentionally” caused harm to the child, stating that she had pulled a “substantial amount of hair from the child’s head,” according to the police report.
Cochran faces charges of first-degree criminal abuse, as per court documents, which did not provide details on plea or attorney representation.
According to online records, her arraignment is scheduled for Thursday.
The inquiry continues to unfold.
