California High School Teacher Injured in Classroom Attack, Student Arrested on Assault Charges

DANVILLE, Cali. (Honk News) – A teenager who was involved in an assault on a teacher at a Danville high school was arrested and put into Contra Costa County Juvenile Hall this week, according to officials.

On Monday, shortly after 1 p.m., Danville Police Department officers responded to Monte Vista High School, located at 3131 Stone Valley Road, for a report of an assault on a teacher.

Police reported the San Ramon Fire Protection District also responded to the scene. Upon arrival, officials discovered the injured instructor, who was sent to a local hospital for treatment.

The condition of the nameless instructor is unclear.

Police added that following an initial inquiry, a young student was suspected of being involved in the assault and was placed into juvenile hall.

Police have no other information to provide and said the investigation is still ongoing. Officials did not provide information about the student’s age or grade level.

In a message to parents, a school official stated that the assault occurred within a classroom. The school administrator stated that they would not share the teacher’s name due to respect for their privacy.

“The safety of our students and our staff is a top priority and any unsafe or dangerous conduct will not be tolerated at Monte Vista or at any school in SRVUSD,” a memo signed by Dr. Ahern stated. According to the Monte Vista High School website, Kevin Ahern is the principal.

School administrators from the San Ramon Valley Unified School District are assisting authorities in the continuing investigation of the attack.
