Honk News (New York City, NY) – A middle school teacher in New York City has been taken into custody for reportedly having “hundreds of images and videos” related to child sex abuse.
A legal complaint from Manhattan reveals that Google reported middle school teacher Ross Lanvin, 41, to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in December 2024. This action followed the identification of 150 images and 90 videos containing explicit illegal content on his account. At that time, Google also restricted Lanvin’s access to the account, according to the court document.
Lanvin voluntarily spoke to law enforcement on Feb. 13 during a search of his home, where he acknowledged that the Google account in question belonged to him. It also mentions that he “admitted to having accessed child pornography on electronic platforms before.”
According to the complaint, Lanvin has been involved in teaching intermittently since 2006.
Authorities have confirmed that a search warrant was carried out at Lanvin’s Manhattan apartment in February, where child pornography was discovered on at least one of his electronic devices, according to a news release from the United States Attorney’s Office.

Lanvin faces two charges related to the possession of child pornography, which includes images and videos featuring prepubescent minors and those under the age of 12, according to the office. The maximum sentence for the charges is 20 years in prison.
Matthew Podolsky, the acting U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, stated in the release that Lanvin “had close contact with students as a teacher at a public school in Manhattan [and] possessed hundreds of images and videos of child pornography.”
He added, “Our investigation into Lanvin is ongoing, and we encourage anyone with information to contact Wendy Olsen-Clancy, the Victim Witness Coordinator at the United States Attorney’s Office of the Southern District of New York, at 866-874-8900 or [email protected].”
