Honk News (North Myrtle Beach, SC) – A 56-year-old man has been charged with child sex crimes following allegations of sexually assaulting a girl in North Myrtle Beach, as reported in police documents.
John David Moulton from Apex, North Carolina, faces charges of third-degree criminal sexual conduct. On Monday morning, he was taken into custody at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center and was released later that same day after posting a bond of $4,500.
Authorities in North Myrtle Beach responded to a report from a girl who alleged that on February 9, Moulton entered her room while she was asleep and engaged in inappropriate conduct, as detailed in an incident report. A witness later reported seeing Moulton inappropriately touch the girl, according to an arrest warrant.
Recently, a 62-year-old man from Ocala, recognized for his involvement in coaching youth sports and overseeing a children’s sports and entertainment business, has been arrested on charges of sexual offenses, prompting police to express concerns regarding the potential for more victims.
On Sunday, law enforcement apprehended Richard Hawkins, 62, in Marion County.
A 16-year-old boy reported to Ocala police that he had spent the night at Hawkins’ apartment and woke up to find himself in Hawkins’ bed under distressing circumstances. While the teenager was trying to leave the apartment, officials indicate that Hawkins tried to block the front door.
The victim told his father, who subsequently contacted Hawkins, according to the officials. The father reported to the authorities that Hawkins admitted to the incident.
Hawkins is confronted with grave accusations, such as inappropriate contact with a minor, false imprisonment, and illegal possession of a firearm.
