Honk News (Ocala, FL) – A 62-year-old man from Ocala, known for coaching youth sports and managing a children’s sports and entertainment business, has been taken into custody on sexual offense charges, raising concerns among police about the possibility of additional victims.
On Sunday, authorities took Richard Hawkins, 62, into custody in Marion County.
A 16-year-old boy informed Ocala police about an incident where he spent the night at Hawkins’ apartment and awoke to discover himself in Hawkins’ bed in an uncomfortable situation. As the teenager attempted to exit the apartment, authorities report that Hawkins attempted to obstruct the front door.

The victim informed his father, who then reached out to Hawkins, as stated by the authorities. The father informed authorities that Hawkins confessed to the event.
Hawkins faces serious allegations including inappropriate touching of a minor, false imprisonment, and unlawful firearm possession.
Authorities reported that alongside his role in coaching youth sports, Hawkins is a co-owner of a business in Ocala that organizes children’s entertainment and sports events.
