On Friday morning, the Jackson Police Department launched an investigation into a potential homicide following the discovery of a woman’s body, which allegedly exhibited signs of physical assault near the time of her passing.
According to Public Information Officer Tommie Brown, the event took place at approximately 6 a.m. on Friday in the 3200 block of Sears Street.
Authorities have confirmed the identity of the victim as Amanda Harris, age 36.
A family member took Harris to a hospital, as stated by Brown. Brown stated that Harris was said to be dead when he arrived at the hospital.
“It seems the victim’s body showed signs of having been physically attacked,” Brown stated.
Records from the Clarion Ledger indicate that Harris’ death would be the eighth homicide under investigation by JPD in 2025. At this point in 2024, JPD was handling 15 homicide investigations.
Currently, there is no information available regarding any suspects.
