Honk News (WATSONVILLE, CA) – A man from Watsonville has been taken into custody for reportedly sexually abusing a victim who was attending a daycare.
A 28-year-old Ramon Castillo-Ruiz is accused of having molested the victim several times when the victim was between four and six years old. An 11-year-old has come forward to report their abuse.
Authorities report that Castillo-Ruiz resided in a house close to 400 Rogge Street, where the daycare was functioning at that time.
“Our Detectives, with help from the Santa Cruz County Anti-Crime Team, served a search warrant at the daycare early Thursday morning, where they found several firearms and ammunition in the suspect’s room,” said police in a media release.
Castillo-Ruiz has been taken into custody and is now at Santa Cruz County Jail facing charges for inappropriate behavior with a child under 14, as well as for having a controlled substance.
Detectives think there may be additional victims as the investigation continues.
The California Department of Social Services, responsible for overseeing licensed daycares in the state, has been reached out to. Castillo-Ruiz is facing a federal charge related to firearms, in addition to the involvement of the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
