Honk News (BUENA VISTA, CO) – On Friday, the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office received a call from the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement regarding a person from Mexico who might be in the area.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, ICE stated that the suspect, Juan Jose Avila Hernandez, who is 23 years old, was wanted on four felony counts in Oklahoma for raping kids. Hernandez was thought to be operating in the Chaffee County area.
As per Sheriff’s Office, they followed the directives of ICE and were able to locate Hernandez in Buena Vista on the same day. According to them, he was apprehended without any problems, transferred to the Chaffee County Detention Facility, and then handed over to ICE.

“Our deputies did an excellent job of promptly locating Hernandez and making sure that he could not hurt anyone in our town. Hernandez was identified as a sexually violent predator.

Chaffee County Sheriff Andy Rohrich said, “As stated before, we will assist ICE when they are searching for undocumented immigrants that are wanted for violations of law other than just their legal status of being in the United States.”
