Honk News (Chicago, IL) – An employee at a school in the far north suburbs is facing felony charges following allegations of an inappropriate relationship with a student.
Lake County authorities have reported that 38-year-old Sandra Pardo, a resident of Grayslake and a paraprofessional at Cyd Lash Academy in Gages Lake, faces multiple charges including three counts of aggravated battery, solicitation to meet a minor, and child endangerment.
Officials reported that the allegations against Pardo arose from a series of purported events concerning a minor under the age of 16.
Authorities reported that the inquiry commenced following a tip-off regarding a minor, under 16, who was purportedly seen in a video operating a vehicle on a public street. The individual who alerted the authorities in the video mentioned that they recognized a voice coming from the car, identifying it as Pardo’s.
Following a deeper inquiry, authorities discovered that Pardpo was reportedly spending time with the student after school and was said to have been involved in an inappropriate relationship with the student.
It was found that Pardo reportedly provided the boy with a massage and kissed him on at least two separate occasions, including once at the school in January.
Pardo was apprehended on Wednesday after the investigation concluded.
Authorities indicated that two of the aggravated battery charges against Pardo are related to the purported kissing, while the third arises from the alleged massage.
Pardo was present in court on Thursday morning, with deputies indicating that the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office plans to submit a petition for her pre-trial detention.
Authorities have indicated that the inquiry into the matter is still in progress, and further charges may be forthcoming.
