Honk News (Staten Island, NY) – A man charged with the horrific crime of assaulting a 5-year-old girl on Staten Island last month reportedly strangled the child’s mother when she attempted to call for help after discovering him during the vile act, as detailed in court filings.
Dominique Giles, 30, was reportedly discovered in the act of assaulting a young girl he knew, when her unaware mother walked in on him with his pants down in the bedroom on January 22, according to prosecutors, who stated that she attempted to alert the authorities.
According to a criminal complaint, the individual then “wrapped his hand around her neck and squeezed, causing the informant to experience difficulty breathing, to vomit, and to be unable to speak to the 911 operator.”
Giles reportedly assaulted the woman before taking her phone and escaping the residence close to Richmond Terrace and Sharpe Avenue in Port Richmond, according to court documents.
Medical personnel transported the child to Richmond University Medical Center following the horrific incident.
The mother of the girl sustained injuries to her face and back.

Giles was captured by the Regional Fugitive Task Force just days after the NYPD made public a mug shot of the alleged offender.
On Wednesday, he faced arraignment in Staten Island Criminal Court, confronting 19 serious charges that encompass a range of offenses such as rape, robbery, sexual abuse, assault, strangulation, sexual misconduct, criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation, and endangering the welfare of a child.
A judge in Staten Island has established bail at $250,000 in cash.
