Nevada Teacher Had Inappropriate Relations with Minor Student; Arrested after He Surrendered Himself in Las Vegas

Honk News (Las Vegas, NV) – A substitute teacher from a Las Vegas high school has been taken into custody on allegations of engaging in an inappropriate relationship with a minor after he voluntarily surrendered, according to CCSDPD on Wednesday.

Kurt Tumbagahan, 25, voluntarily presented himself at the Clark County District Court following the issuance of a summons by the District Attorney. Documents indicate that he is charged with attempting to contact a minor by someone in a position of authority for sexual purposes, along with two counts of engaging in sexual conduct with an individual aged 16 or older on school grounds or during a school event.

The notice originated from an inquiry that began on January 7 at Valley High School.

Tumbagahan served as a substitute teacher at Valley High School and has been with the district since April 2024. He has been taken out of the CCSD substitute pool and is no longer permitted to substitute within CCSD.
