Honk News (Atlanta, GA) – In Georgia, a couple is confronting serious allegations of child abuse nearly a year after officials found that their 6-month-old daughter had sustained 29 fractures across her body.
Authorities in Rome, nestled in the Appalachian foothills approximately 70 miles northwest of Atlanta, apprehended Savannah Carol-Louise Cox and Shane Avery Moore last week. A police report indicates that Cox and her mother brought the baby to Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center on February 7.
Authorities were alerted by the hospital after the infant was found to have a fractured femur and facial bruising. Subsequent examinations allegedly revealed that the baby sustained 29 fractures, affecting the ribs, legs, and arms.
Investigators were informed by nurses that Cox and her mother repeatedly altered their account of the circumstances surrounding the injuries.

Initially, they reportedly claimed that the girl had experienced a fall. Subsequently, inquiries were made to hospital personnel regarding the possibility that the injuries might have resulted from someone “dropping her,” as per reports.
Cox mentioned that she had brought the girl to a doctor’s appointment earlier that day and reportedly implied that the broken leg might have occurred during that visit. She stated that she observed her daughter’s injuries a few hours following the appointment and made the decision to take her to the hospital.

Medical professionals, however, concluded that the injuries exhibited signs of healing at different stages. Authorities have taken custody of the girl and her sister.
Cox, along with her parents and Moore, resided in the house with the two children at the time the injuries were reportedly sustained. Following nearly a year of investigation, authorities took Cox and Moore into custody on Thursday.
Alongside the charge of child cruelty, they are also confronted with an aggravated battery accusation. The couple seems to have secured their release from the Floyd County Jail. No new information has been released regarding the condition of the injured child.
