Honk News (Kissimmee, FL) – A man from Florida has been taken into custody following his reported confession to violently assaulting his girlfriend in a motel room.
A 25-year-old woman, who remains unnamed, endured a violent incident over the weekend in Kissimmee, Florida, resulting in her hospitalization due to several skull fractures. According to a charging affidavit, medical personnel indicated that her injuries are likely to be fatal.
Terell Rodgers, 31, faces multiple charges, including attempted murder, following his statement to police that he believed he had “just killed my son’s mom.” The document describes the two individuals as being in a relationship, with Rodgers referring to the woman as his spouse and the mother of his child.
According to the affidavit, the purported assault started while Rodgers and the victim were in a motel room accompanied by two other witnesses, one of whom was also a target of the attack. The individual informed authorities that the pair had used meth earlier that day.
A witness named John Zolyniak reported to the police that he inquired if the woman was interested in having some food. Rodgers expressed frustration over her engagement with Zolyniak’s inquiries while ignoring him, apparently as a result of a prior disagreement between the couple.

According to the affidavit, Rodgers reportedly launched into a violent outburst with a baseball bat, first smashing a television and then attempting to hit Zolyniak when he stepped in to help.
A further witness, Christopher Suraj Budhai, attempted to step in when Rodgers reportedly tried to strike the woman with the bat. The suspect subsequently hit him before seeking refuge in the bathroom alongside Zolyniak, according to police reports.
At this moment, Budhai claims he could hear Rodgers hit the woman “numerous times.”
According to the affidavit, Rodgers reportedly expressed his frustration to the police regarding several matters from the day and was upset that the woman had replied to Zolyniak’s earlier question.
He reportedly informed authorities that after striking Diaz, he “felt like he was finally in control, getting Diaz to listen to him” and that he “experienced a sense of pleasure” during the supposed assault.
The document claims that Rodgers confessed to repeatedly striking Diaz while she cried out and attempted to escape, only ceasing when she lay still.

Upon exiting the bathroom, Zolyniak noticed a fire had been ignited on his bed while he was assisting Diaz, he reported to the authorities. He extinguished the flames.
Rodgers is confronting serious legal issues, including attempted homicide, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, first-degree arson, false imprisonment, and criminal mischief, according to court documents. The court records did not reveal any pleas or details regarding his legal representation.
