Honk News (Cook County, IL) – A man without legal status confessed to killing a 21-year-old woman in an upstate Airbnb on her birthday, and he transported her body past a police vehicle before burying her in the forest.
In a Syracuse courtroom on Tuesday, 21-year-old Jhon Moises Chacaguasay-Ilbis, an Ecuadorean national, admitted to second-degree murder charges related to the tragic killing of Joselyn Jhoana Toaquiza on June 18, a crime that occurred during her birthday celebration, according to prosecutors on Thursday.
Disturbing footage shows the assailant and his target entering the Syracuse Airbnb, only to emerge later with Toaquiza’s lifeless body draped over his shoulder, coinciding with the passing of a police cruiser.
Authorities reported that Chacaguasay-Ilbis transported the victim’s remains to a location near Lincoln Park, where he interred her in a shallow grave prior to departing the area.

Authorities revealed that Toaquiza, originally from Ecuador, had known her assailant since childhood.
Chacaguasay-Ilbis surrendered to authorities several days later and faced charges related to the homicide.
Sources from Homeland Security indicate that the individual responsible for the crime entered the US unlawfully in El Paso in January 2023, but was let go due to a lack of available detention space.
According to sources, Toaquiza, who went to elementary school with Chacaguasay-Ilbis in Ecuador, made an illegal entry into the US a few months later, on June 19, 2023, in Lukeville, Arizona.
She informed border agents that she was escaping an abusive partner from her home country, but it remains uncertain whether her eventual assailant is the same individual, according to sources.
She received a scheduled date for her asylum court hearing but tragically lost her life before that date arrived.

Authorities reported that Chacaguasay employed a ligature to take the victim’s life by strangulation.
This week in court, he admitted guilt to charges of second-degree murder and concealing a corpse. He is set to receive a sentence ranging from 22 years to life, which is three years shy of the maximum, on February 14.
