Honk News (LIMESTONE COUNTY, AL) – A man was apprehended on Sunday by the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) after being discovered in the act of sexually abusing a child under the age of 12.
On January 19, law enforcement officials reported that deputies arrived at the scene following a call about a man allegedly mistreating a child under the age of 12. Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office arrived to discover that the victim’s family had apprehended the man after witnessing him committing an act of sexual abuse against a child.
Officials reported that a 38-year-old man from Guatemala, named Luis Lopez-Martinez, has been apprehended, while the victim has been transported to a nearby hospital for assessment and treatment.
Authorities reported that Lopez-Martinez admitted to the sexual abuse of a child under the age of 12 during a discussion with investigators. Officials reported that he was subsequently taken into custody and faced charges. The court has established his bond at $250,000.
The Sheriff’s Office announced that an immigration detainer has been issued for the suspect by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
