Honk News (Baltimore County, MD) – A man from Maryland is facing accusations of killing his 4-year-old son by shooting him in the head on Christmas Eve. This tragic incident reportedly occurred after the boy requested his father to leave his mother’s bedroom during a dispute.
Mark Jones, 30, is accused of killing a young boy in the family’s home in Rosedale during an incident related to domestic issues, as reported by officials from the Baltimore County Police Department. He shot Marcelle and her 1-year-old daughter multiple times and tried to take his own life but survived, according to officials.
In an interview with local NBC affiliate WBAL, Marcelle shared that Jacobi was looking forward to opening his Christmas gifts before he passed away.
Documents state that Jones, facing first-degree murder charges, assaulted his son and family during a dispute with Marcelle that morning in her bedroom. Jacobi Jones reportedly requested his father to exit the room during the altercation, leading him to grab a handgun and shoot at him, according to police.
“At approximately 6:35 a.m., officers responded to the unit block of Breslin Court, 21237, for reports of a shooting,” BCPD officials said in a press release. “Once on scene, officers located an adult female along with two juveniles suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to the upper body. Medics transported the three victims to an area hospital, where one juvenile was pronounced deceased.”

Marcelle shared with local news sources following the shooting that domestic violence had been a significant issue in her relationship with Mark Jones. Documents from the court reveal that Jones faced charges of assault with a firearm in May 2023. He admitted to second-degree assault and received probation before judgment as his sentence.
In January 2023, Mark Jones was issued a temporary restraining order for domestic violence, as reported by police. However, the charge was dismissed a few days later for reasons that remain unclear.
