Baby Died from Severe Injuries Inflicted by Kentucky Man when Mother Left Baby under His Care; Suspect in Custody

Honk News (Elizabethtown, KY) – A Radcliff man has been charged with murder following the tragic death of an 18-month-old girl who had been in his care.

Terrance Corbin, 20, was watching the toddler and a 3-year-old at a home in Elizabethtown on Tuesday afternoon when the horrifying events unfolded, according to Chris Denham, spokesperson for the Elizabethtown Police Department.

At around 4 p.m., Corbin contacted the children’s mother to report that the toddler was breathing abnormally. Shortly after, he called 911 to report that she had stopped breathing altogether.

Responding officers found the child in critical condition. “The child was in dire condition and in need of immediate medical treatment,” Denham stated. She was transported to a local hospital and then airlifted to Norton Children’s Hospital in Louisville for specialized care.

Medical evaluations revealed devastating injuries, including substantial swelling and bleeding around the scalp and face, subdural hemorrhaging at multiple sites, and multiple skull fractures. A pediatrician specializing in child abuse described the toddler’s skull fractures as “the worst they had encountered during their time practicing medicine.”

Despite efforts to save her, the child succumbed to her injuries on Thursday afternoon.

Corbin was arrested and charged with murder following the child’s death. He is being held at the Hardin County Detention Center.

“This case is unimaginably heartbreaking,” Denham said. “A crime like this is the most heinous, despicable, disgusting crime that law enforcement is tasked with investigating. How could you do that to a baby? I’m not sure.”

The investigation remains ongoing as the community grapples with the loss of a young life and the severity of the alleged abuse.
