Four-Month-Old Bronx Baby Dies from Cocaine Intoxication, Police Seek Answers

The city medical examiner has reported that a four-month-old baby boy who died in the Bronx during the summer had cocaine in his system, leading to his death being classified as a homicide.

Authorities discovered Ariel Gonzalez unresponsive at a residence on Eagle Avenue around 9:15 p.m. on August 10, following a 911 call for assistance, according to the NYPD’s report on Thursday.

Emergency workers transported the boy to NYC Health and Hospitals/Lincoln, but he unfortunately did not survive, according to police.

Authorities are puzzled as there were no signs of trauma on his body, raising questions about the cause of death.

On Thursday, the city medical examiner revealed that the boy’s death was due to acute cocaine intoxication, officially classifying it as a homicide.

No arrests have been made in connection with the crime, and the investigation continues.
