Aspiring Rapper and Father Abused Young Daughter which Sent Her in Vegetative State in California; Mother Sighs after He was Found Guilty

A man from California, who was taken into custody three years prior for the severe abuse of his 4-year-old daughter, was convicted on Tuesday of charges including torture, assault, and causing bodily harm to a child.

In November 2021, Tekquan Alexander, who dreams of a rap career, was taken into custody following allegations of severe and ongoing abuse towards his young daughter. The girl, having endured days of mistreatment from her father, was found unresponsive and subsequently airlifted to Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles.

According to a report from a local news source, she suffered from significant injuries, including damage to her brain and spine, along with multiple fractures and numerous cuts and bruises. The injuries were described as “catastrophic,” resulting in her being in a “vegetative state,” as reported by the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office.

Following the verdict, Deputy District Attorney Rikole Kelly expressed that Alexander’s daughter “will encounter a future laden with unimaginable challenges due to the defendant’s reprehensible actions, but today’s decision ensures accountability and provides a sense of justice for her and for all those deeply impacted by this case.”

In 2022, Keyonna Watts, the mother of the young girl, shared her thoughts on the case with The Shade Room. At the time of their daughter’s hospitalization, she resided in Atlanta, Georgia, while Alexander had moved to Los Angeles to chase his rap career. Watts revealed to TSR that it was a detective who informed her that her daughter was experiencing “bleeding from the brain.” During a FaceTime conversation with Alexander, he mentioned that she had “passed out standing in time-out.”

Records obtained from the girl’s emergency room visit indicated that a portion of her skull was removed to relieve pressure caused by the bleeding.

Court records revealed that Alexander characterized his daughter as a “bed-wetter,” and detailed his approach of “[punishing] her through strenuous exercises that involved physical abuse, such as striking her with boxing gloves, using a belt, and hitting her with speaker wire.”

Alexander’s sentencing is scheduled for December 12. A potential sentence ranging from seven years to life looms ahead for him.
