A man from Sevierville faces charges after authorities reported that a toddler was exposed to methamphetamine in September.
Sevierville Police have reported that Alexis Amador, 39, faces charges of felony child abuse and driving without a license.
On September 5, Amador was stopped by an officer on Ridge Road due to the officer’s awareness of his unlicensed status. The officer reported that the Toyota Tundra driven by Amador did not stay in its lane and crossed the center line.
A police officer pulled over a truck on Ridge Road in Sevierville and talked to Amador, who admitted he didn’t have a license. Amador was arrested, and he agreed to have his pockets searched, according to the report.
A search has allegedly uncovered 0.42 grams of methamphetamine in a plastic bag. A woman and a 3-year-old child were reported to be in the truck with him. Amador was taken into custody as the woman reached out to arrange a ride for herself, the child, and the vehicle.
The Department of Children’s Services reached out and asked for a test to determine if the child had been exposed to the drug. A spokesperson for the City of Sevierville reported that the test returned positive, leading to a new felony child abuse charge against Amador.
