A woman in Georgia is in serious condition following an attack by her neighbor’s dog, as reported by officials.
A police report indicates that the incident occurred on Maryland Drive in Albany at approximately 4:08 p.m. on Sunday.
Elizabeth Warrener has been identified as the victim. During the incident, Warrener was said to be in her backyard taking care of her cats. A brown and white dog from the neighbor’s yard attacked her while she was in her backyard.
During a press conference on Monday, Albany Police Chief Michael Persley reported that the owners of the dog were also bitten on Saturday. He mentioned that the dog was a pit bull.
Officers responded to the scene of the attack, and EMS transported Warrener to a hospital emergency room. Authorities were alerted to the incident involving the animal.
An officer from Albany Police spoke with John Warrener, the husband of the victim, who reported that he was inside the house during the incident.
He informed the authorities that upon Elizabeth Warrener’s return to the house following the assault, “her face was severely damaged and bitten, her arm was fractured, and she was losing a significant amount of blood.”

An officer reported observing significant blood scattered across the property, along with a brown and white dog located in the backyard of a neighboring residence on Baldwin Drive.
Authorities proceeded to the emergency room to interview the victim. Authorities reported that she sustained serious injuries to her arms, neck, and face.
A doctor said that she suffered the following injuries:
- A broken right arm
- Puncture wounds to her neck
- Injuries to her face and teeth
- Her left ear was partially bitten off
Elizabeth Warrener reported to officers that she attempted to defend herself during the assault, but the dog persisted in its attack. She mentioned that the dog typically barked, but instead, it charged at her and attacked.
