Woman Brutally Punched in Face by Passerby after She was Dropped at Wrong Location by Uber Driver in Michigan

A woman from Michigan reports that an Uber driver mistakenly left her at an incorrect address, leading to an assault by a stranger as she made her way to the right place.

Morgan Catton recounted the harrowing experience on a GoFundMe page and in an interview with a local TV station, detailing her Uber ride from her home in Mt. Clemons to a friend’s house on Detroit’s westside around 10 p.m. on September 13. The driver let her out, but as she stepped out, she noticed she was just a block or two away from her friend’s place. At that point, she mentioned that the Uber had already left.

“Walking down the sidewalk I noticed a man on a bicycle on the same side of the sidewalk as me,” she wrote. “Before he was about to pass me he gets off his bike, grabs me by my neck and throws me to the ground where he repeatedly punched me in the face.”

The individual made his exit. Catton quickly fled the scene before dialing emergency services. She reported that she spent the night at the hospital and received multiple stitches in her eye, mouth, and lips. Authorities in Detroit have informed local ABC station WXYZ that the individual responsible is still on the loose, and the incident seems to have been unprovoked.

“This event that took all of maybe 20 seconds has completely altered and affected my life. Currently, this man is still roaming the streets and I pray to God this doesn’t happen to another woman or something worse,” she wrote.

Catton initiated the fundraiser to highlight the incident and gather funds for medical expenses, as she lacks insurance coverage.

During the conversation with WXYZ, she expressed her concerns about her safety.

“I thought I was going to die,” she said.

Catton recommends that individuals should consider walking with a companion during nighttime and having some form of protection on hand.

Residents informed the news outlet that the neighborhood is usually peaceful and not recognized for criminal activity.
