A Houston rapper, aged 29, has received a life sentence for sex trafficking three minors and one adult, according to U.S. Attorney Alamdar S. Hamdani.
Court documents reveal that Jacorey Nathaniel Anderson, who goes by Slando Kareem, attracted victims from Houston to Austin using social media, text messages, and the help of co-conspirators Lelonnie Stephon Jackson, 33, and Thomas Jarrett Barraza, 37.
Authorities reported that victims were exploited in explicit ads for online commercial sex and were directed to stroll through a known prostitution area.
Court documents revealed that some of the victims were only 15 years old. Although a few managed to get away in just a day, one individual remained with Anderson for several weeks.
Anderson subjected the victims to starvation, administered drugs, and seized all earnings from the commercial sex activities.
A young victim shared in court that Anderson’s actions robbed her of her childhood and adversely affected all her relationships.
Officials stated that Anderson’s music reflected the way he lived his life.
The jury viewed two rap videos featuring Anderson during the trial. A video shows a woman restrained with her hands and feet bound, duct tape over her mouth, as Anderson attacks her.
“This situation illustrates the way art can reflect reality,” Hamdani stated that Anderson… showcased offensive songs that celebrated the pimp/prostitute dynamic.
Anderson was apprehended in Dallas for trying to traffic someone he believed to be a minor but was actually an undercover officer. Authorities seized his phone during the arrest, which helped them identify his victims.
Jackson and Barraza admitted their roles in the trafficking scheme. Jackson could spend five years behind bars, while Barraza’s sentencing is set for November 12.
