A 58-year-old man from Pulaski appeared in court on Tuesday for a status conference. He is facing multiple felony charges for allegedly videotaping a 17-year-old girl while she was showering.
According to records from the Wisconsin Circuit Court, Ruben Baez-Garcia, 58, recently made a court appearance accompanied by an attorney. A plea/sentencing hearing has been set for early October.
Baez-Garcia’s current bond will remain in effect. The plea/sentencing hearing is scheduled for October 7 at 10:00 a.m., when he is expected to appear in court.
Authorities were notified on December 1 about an alleged incident that occurred at a residence in Pulaski.
According to reports, the victim, who is 17 years old, stated that while she was showering, she noticed the bathroom light dim and saw a shadow approaching from behind the shower curtain. According to reports, she noticed a cell phone camera pointed in her direction when she glanced up.
According to the complaint, she attempted to strike the phone and mistakenly identified Ruben as the individual holding it.
According to reports, Ruben expressed his apologies to the girl on multiple occasions. The victim managed to capture the moment she confronted Ruben on video.
When Ruben was questioned about his actions, he was asked, “Why would you do that?” According to reports, his response was, “I am attracted to you.”
The complaint references a prior occurrence in which the victim discovered a cell phone recording her while she was using the bathroom.
