A tragic incident occurred in 2022, where a 30-year-old mother’s boyfriend caused the death of her 5-year-old son and injured her 6-year-old daughter. As a result, the mother has been sentenced to spend a significant amount of time in prison.
Ashley Rolland has pleaded guilty to two counts of permitting abuse of a minor, according to a statement from the Arkansas State Police. She was later sentenced to 40 years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections.
In December 2022, Lee County deputies were called to a residence on Front Street in response to an incident involving Ashley Rolland and her daughter. The child had visible injuries on her head that had formed scabs. The mother insisted that her son, Blu Rolland, was not present at the residence.
The daughter was taken to Forrest City Hospital, where medical professionals discovered that she had suffered severe burns.
Based on the affidavit, it was reported by Ashley Rolland’s mother that there was a possibility of Blu Rolland being deceased inside the defendant’s home. Officials discovered the child concealed beneath the floorboards, carefully wrapped in numerous layers of plastic bags.
According to reports, Ashley Rolland informed the police that her son had passed away three months prior, specifically on September 9, 2022. According to reports, the victim’s actions seemed to have provoked her boyfriend, Nathan Bridges, when he inserted his finger into his mouth and she bit it. According to reports, Bridges tragically took the life of the child by drowning them in the toilet. The defendant acknowledged entering the bathroom and discovering her son in distress, with his body appearing lifeless.
Based on the affidavit, Ashley Rolland informed investigators that Bridges concealed the victim’s body beneath the floorboards following his demise.
According to reports, the accused claimed that her daughter sustained injuries as a result of Bridges’ actions, specifically by submerging the girl’s “head and upper torso under hot water in the bathtub.” According to reports, Ashley Rolland’s daughter faces challenges with behavioral issues, and Bridges allegedly resorts to using hot water as a form of punishment.
State police have reported that Rolland and Bridges were initially charged with capital murder, abuse of a corpse, tampering with physical evidence, and endangering the welfare of a minor.
Bridges admitted his guilt in July, confessing to the serious charges of first-degree murder and first-degree battery. As a consequence, he received a lengthy sentence of 60 years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections.
