Indiana Man Found Guilty of Kidnapping; Sexual Assault; Faces 80 years in Prison: Records

A Fishers man has been convicted of rape, kidnapping, and several other serious charges after a recent jury trial.

Akeenen Anton Lamar Hunt has been convicted of 15 felony counts after a four-day trial that concluded on July 19.

As per earlier reports, an investigation was initiated by Greenfield police into Hunt following an apparent accident in the 1900 block of North State Street on Dec. 13, 2023, during the early morning hours.

When the officers arrived, they noticed a discarded cell phone amidst the wreckage of two different cars in the parking lot of Little Ro’s Pub. The officers successfully tracked the trail of debris left by the vehicles, leading them from the front side of a Walmart on North State Street to the department store Bealls at 1659 Melody Lane.

According to GPD, the debris seemed to be consistent with the vehicles discovered near the Walmart and parking lots in the vicinity.

A vehicle, identified by police as a white 2003 Mercury, suffered significant damage to its front end and was found without a back wheel. The gray 2021 Jeep Cherokee also sustained significant damage.

Officers quickly identified the vehicles involved in the incident and collected evidence while reviewing surveillance footage of the altercation.

Shortly after, officers responded to a residence in the 2300 block of Collins Way for a welfare check. The call was made to the Hancock County 911 Center by a man who stated that the victim had requested police assistance.

GPD reported that Hunt and the victim had a prior relationship before he was apprehended for domestic violence. The victim relocated to Texas in order to steer clear of any encounters with Hunt.

After conducting a thorough investigation, it was discovered that the individual had returned to their residence in Hancock County on December 12th. It was reported that Hunt contacted them and subsequently kicked the back door of the home the following day.

GPD reported that Hunt departed the residence while the victim sought refuge within the home. Eventually, the individual left the house and made their way to a Walmart nearby on North State Street.

According to reports obtained by Fox-59 News, Hunt allegedly spotted the victim in their vehicle and intentionally collided with their car on multiple occasions.

The cars eventually stopped on Meloday Lane, where the victim exited the vehicle and started running on foot to escape from Hunt. Hunt pursued the victim and forcefully brought them to their residence, subjecting them to physical assault.

Hunt may face a lengthy prison sentence of 82 years in the coming month.

Hunt’s sentencing is scheduled to take place in Hancock Circuit Court on August 6th at 1:30 p.m.
