A Florida woman is being charged with leaving her boyfriend to die in their home while he was zipped up in a bag. The hearing for the case was held on Friday, and the trial will begin in October.
A hearing for Sarah Boone was held in Orlando state court on October 7, almost four years after she was arrested. A trial date was set for that date. Boone, who is 46 years old, has said he is not guilty of second-degree murder.
Police in Orange County, Florida, were first told by Boone that she and her boyfriend, Jorge Torres, were playing hide-and-seek in the home they shared in Winter Park, Florida, when they thought it would be funny for Torres to get into the bag.
An arrest report says she told police she went to sleep because she thought Torres could get out of the bag on his own after they had been drinking.
She thought Torres was in the bag when she woke up the next morning but couldn’t find him. The police report said that when she opened the suitcase, she found him not moving.

The arrest report says that Boone was charged with murder after police found videos on her phone of Torres screaming that he couldn’t breathe in the bag and calling out Boone’s name.
The story says that Boone said in one of the videos, “Yeah, that’s what you do when you choke me.” “That’s how I feel when you cheat on me,” she said.
According to the autopsy report, Torres had cuts and scratches on his back and neck, as well as bruises on his shoulder, brain, and forehead from being hit hard. He also had a cut near his broken lip as per Associated Press.
Boone has had several lawyers since she was arrested, which has made her hearing take longer than planned.
