Human Smuggling Attempt Busted With 19 Arrests at Texas Border

Laredo, TX: Border Patrol agents in the Laredo Sector successfully intercepted a human smuggling attempt, resulting in the capture of 19 migrants.

On February 5th, Border Patrol agents noticed multiple vehicles parked near a tractor-trailer on HWY 359 during their regular duties. Agents approached the driver of the tractor-trailer after observing individuals in the sleeper area attempting to hide themselves from public view.

The agents directed the driver to exit the tractor. Agents began to evacuate the individuals from within the tractor-trailer. Border Patrol agents successfully apprehended a group of 19 individuals, who were then transported to the Laredo South Station for processing.

After a thorough investigation, it was discovered that they had entered the country without proper documentation from Mexico, El Salvador, and Guatemala. All individuals were handled based on their unique immigration status. HSI has taken custody of the driver and is currently leading the investigation.
