Jordan Boggess, 28, from Newtonia, is set to appear in court on December 13th.
Prosecutors in Newton County have charged Boggess with the abuse of his girlfriend’s nine-month-old baby son in September.
Springfield’s KY3 shares that “Baby Waylon,” now 10 months old, has been discharged from a Kansas City hospital, but his injuries will have a lasting impact on his life.
Boggess informed deputies that he threw the boy into the air to try to soothe him. Boggess recounted that the baby dropped to the ground when he couldn’t catch him, and then he held him tightly until he stopped crying.
Boggess faces charges related to the abuse or neglect of a child resulting in serious physical injury.
Medical staff at Children’s Mercy informed Newton County Detectives that the child suffered from “abusive head trauma” along with additional injuries. The child was reported to have experienced physical abuse.
A child was brought to the hospital in Kansas City in critical condition.
He was set free on October 24th.
