A tragic incident occurred when an eight-month-old baby lost her life after her parents reportedly placed her in extremely hot bath water.
Jannah Abughazaleh was discovered unresponsive with severe burns, as her parents, Hussein Abughazaleh and Kristina Siedlecki, asserted that the injuries resulted from a bath she had taken days prior.
Both parents allegedly acknowledged that they observed their child’s burns worsen over several days, leaving her in pain without seeking medical care.
Jannah succumbed to her injuries days following the reported incident, as authorities announced that both parents had been taken into custody on murder charges.
A Texas woman, Yanira Prado, 22, faces capital murder charges following a medical examiner’s conclusion that the newborn baby discovered deceased in her toilet was alive at birth.
Authorities claim that Prado intentionally drowned the infant, whereas Prado maintains that she was unaware of the pregnancy. Prado is now at the Ector County Law Enforcement Center with a bail set at $1 million, facing charges of capital murder, tampering with evidence, and an immigration violation.
The Odessa Police Department reported that they found the child on October 9 after answering a call at the woman’s residence. Authorities requested an autopsy as Prado was later transported to the nearby Medical Center Hospital for evaluation.
The autopsy of the infant revealed that the baby was born alive but suffocated due to amniotic fluid, other fluids, and unusual fibers. At that point, law enforcement issued a Capital Warrant for her.
Authorities reported that Prado was taken into custody “without incident” last Friday.
