64-year-old Man took 14-year-old Girl Fishing in California; Arrested after Girl’s Family Reported Her Missing

On Monday afternoon, the Glenn County Sheriff’s Office received a report about a missing 14-year-old girl from Hamilton City.

The official report indicated that the parents informed deputies their teenager may have gone fishing with an unfamiliar man.

The sheriff’s office opted to enlist assistance from the Butte County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue team, dispatching officers to the water.

They located the girl on the Sacramento River, just south of Big Chico Creek, within a few hours, alongside 64-year-old Eleazar Gamboa Martinez from Hamilton City.

The Glenn County Sheriff’s Office reported that Martinez was in possession of drugs, though they did not disclose the specific type.

The young person has been safely reunited with their family.

Martinez was arrested and taken to the Glenn County Jail on charges of child stealing, kidnapping, and possession of a controlled substance.

Bail has been established at $140,000.
