After an alleged period of abuse at the hands of his mother and her boyfriend, a six-year-old child from Michigan passed away. Certain details are distressing.
On July 31, Giovanni “Chulo” Jennings, six, of Madison Heights, passed away.
According to FOX 2 Detroit, Chulo’s four-year-old sibling was interviewed and informed investigators that “Chulo died all day and Danny (their mother’s boyfriend) was there.”
The case was characterized as “horrific” by Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald, who stated that it is one of the most egregious cases her office has encountered.
Elaina Rose Jennings, 25, of Madison Heights, is accused of homicide, first-degree child abuse, and lying to a police officer. She is the mother of Chulo. The charges against her fiancé, Daniel John Giacchina, 32, of Madison Heights, include murder, first-degree child abuse, lying to a police officer, possession of ammunition by a felon, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, and felony firearm.
According to officials, Jennings reported that her son was not breathing to 911 at 2:34 p.m. on July 30. Madison Heights’ fire and police departments responded to a mobile home park located in the 25000 block of Dequindre Road in Madison Heights. Chulo was discovered to be unresponsive and afflicted with numerous injuries.
According to officials, Chulo was initially transported to Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital and subsequently transferred to Children’s Hospital of Michigan. On Wednesday, July 31, he succumbed to his injuries.

The TV station reports that his death was classified as a homicide due to blunt force trauma and a perforated abdomen. McDonald stated that he passed away “following an extended period of confinement and abuse.”
The report stated that bruising and lacerations were discovered throughout Chulo’s body, including within his mouth. According to the television station, his abdomen was enlarged.
The evidence indicated that he was confined to a pen, which contained curtains to prevent him from observing the outside, restraints to keep him in, and an 11-by-36-inch wooden slat for him to slumber on. He was penalized for misbehavior, which included attempting to urinate, consume, and flee.
Bond was denied to Jennings and Giacchina, and they were subsequently incarcerated.
