59-year-old Woman Molested at Subway Station in New York City; Suspect on Large: NYPD

Honk News (New York City, NY) – A brutal assault occurred in a Lower Manhattan subway station, where a 59-year-old straphanger was violently attacked and molested, according to police reports released on Monday.

Authorities reported that the assailant approached the woman from behind in a stairwell at the Canal Street station around 2 a.m. on Friday.

According to officials, he subsequently attacked the woman, pushed her to the ground, and sexually assaulted her.

The suspect escaped the area on foot, while the injured woman made her way to a nearby hospital for care.

Sources indicated that the victim came forward about the brutal incident on Sunday at the 41st Precinct in The Bronx.

The suspect remains at large. The New York Police Department has been looking for the suspect.

Incidents of sexual offenses within the city’s transit system have seen a minor decrease this year compared to the same timeframe in 2024, with 104 reported incidents versus 112, as per the most recent data from the NYPD.

In the last 28 days, there has been a notable increase in reported incidents of sex crimes involving transgender individuals, with 54 cases documented compared to 45 in the same timeframe last year, according to the statistics.

Recently, a teacher at an elementary school in the Bronx has been accused of inappropriately touching two students and displaying a pornographic image to others, as reported by The Post. This individual has reportedly been on the public payroll for several years.

A recent investigation conducted by the city’s Special Commissioner of Investigation has uncovered that in 2021 and 2022, Norman B. Dunkley made a 10-year-old girl uncomfortable by touching her chest over her clothing, as well as other children’s cheeks and shoulders.
