5-year-old Beaten to Death by Man who Dumped His Dead Body in Ravine; Judge Sent Man to Jail for Life

A 29-year-old man has been sentenced to life in prison for the tragic death of his girlfriend’s 5-year-old son. The young boy’s lifeless body was discovered in a ravine near a campsite in 2021.

A judge has sentenced Daniel Garcia to life in prison for injury to a child with serious bodily injury, following his conviction on the charge. Prosecutors have stated that Garcia was originally accused of the murder of 5-year-old Domenic Aguilar-Acevedo. However, they decided to pursue the charge of injury to a child instead, citing it as a strategic legal move.

In July 2021, Garcia and his girlfriend, Nickolle Aguilar, were staying at an extended-stay hotel in San Antonio when an unfortunate incident occurred. Garcia allegedly caused harm to Domenic with significant force, as stated by the district attorney’s office. Investigators discovered footage that showed Garcia carrying what seemed to be a child’s body out of their room and down the stairs. Garcia and his girlfriend allegedly drove to a campsite at a Colorado state park, where they discreetly buried Aguilar-Acevedo’s remains in a ravine.

Based on an arrest warrant examined by KMGH-TV, Garcia and Aguilar allegedly escaped to Mexico and later Costa Rica after the victim’s demise and burial. Authorities were alerted by the victim’s grandmother, who expressed concern for her grandson’s well-being. According to reports, the grandmother had a meeting with the couple in Costa Rica. She mentioned that her daughter, Aguilar, was unable to provide an explanation for what happened to the boy.

According to reports, the grandmother claimed that Garcia had subjected Aguilar-Acevedo to physical abuse, resulting in the boy being forcefully thrown against a wall and falling to the floor.

According to the arrest warrant mentioned by KMGH, Aguilar refrained from seeking medical assistance due to her strong desire to be in a relationship with a man.

Reports indicate that the remains of Aguilar-Acevedo have been found by the San Antonio police. A thorough autopsy has revealed signs of trauma.

After conducting an interview with the boy’s grandmother in Costa Rica, authorities apprehended Garcia and Aguilar in Florida. They were later extradited to Texas to stand trial.

Aguilar recently pleaded guilty to injury to a child causing serious bodily injury by omission and has been sentenced to 15 years in prison, according to KSAT-TV.

Bexar County Criminal District Attorney Joe Gonzales expressed his deep sorrow and anguish over the evidence presented in this case.
