4-Year-Old Girl Found Safe After Carjackers Steal Car While Mother Runs Errand in New York City

Car thieves stole a running vehicle with a 4-year-old girl inside while her mother was on an errand in NYC, according to police.

In a shocking incident on Friday night in Queens, carjackers took off with a running vehicle that had a 4-year-old girl in the backseat while her mother stepped out to run an errand, according to police reports.

A 31-year-old mother arrived at a laundromat close to 101st Avenue and 113th Street in South Richmond Hill shortly after 4:30 p.m., leaving her car running with her 4-year-old child alone in the backseat, as reported by police sources.

Two men took advantage of the moment to hop into a red 2023 Acura Integra, speeding away with a child still secured in the backseat, as reported by the NYPD.

A little girl and a car were discovered at the intersection of 101st Avenue and Sanders Place shortly after 7 p.m.

According to police sources, the girl was unharmed and did not require medical attention at any hospital following an evaluation by EMTs.

Images capture the child appearing unaffected by the situation. She offered a subtle smile to the photographers present while holding a puffed-up green rubber glove.

A girl embraced a police officer, bringing a smile to his face.

Her mother displayed a mix of relief and distress, appearing composed while seated in the back of an EMS vehicle after reuniting with her daughter.

Authorities are still searching for the two kidnappers. Charges of grand larceny have been filed against them, and police sources indicate that kidnapping-related charges may follow.

Authorities are currently looking into the matter.
