4-Year-Old Girl Airlifted After Crash in Ohio; Other Young Kids Not in Restraints

OSHP: A 4-year-old girl was taken to the hospital following a crash in Huron County; multiple young children were not restrained in their seats.

A 4-year-old girl was evacuated to a hospital with significant injuries after a single-car crash in Huron County on Friday.

The driver and two additional small children who were not in car seats were examined for “possible injuries,” according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Troopers say the collision occurred at 2:49 p.m. on Boughtonville Road near Walnut Road in New Haven Township.

According to the highway patrol, a 40-year-old lady was driving a 2009 minivan west on Boughtonville Road when she went off the left side and slammed a ditch and a guardrail.

Troopers say there were three young children in the minivan, none of whom were restrained in child safety seats. A 4-year-old girl suffered “serious injuries” and was transported to a hospital by Medflight. According to the OSHP, medics treated a 1-year-old and a 3-year-old for “possible injuries” on the site.

The 40-year-old driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, was sent to a local hospital for possible injuries.

Troopers are investigating the crash.
