4-Year-Old Ejected in Dallas Car Crash; Suspected Drunk Driver Charged as Six Children Hospitalized After Crash

On Saturday night, Dallas police reported that six children were taken to the hospital following a collision involving a suspected intoxicated driver. Two of the children sustained serious injuries.

At approximately 10:00 p.m., a woman was behind the wheel of a 2016 GMC Acadia, navigating through the 4200 block of Rugged Dr. with seven passengers onboard. A 26-year-old woman occupied the front passenger seat, while a 17-year-old boy and a 4-month-old girl were seated in the middle row, according to the report. In the back row, there were four young boys: one aged 6, another at 3, a 5-year-old, and a 4-year-old.

According to authorities, the Acadia was executing a left turn onto W. Ledbetter Rd. from Rugged Dr. when it collided with a black 2018 Chevy Malibu that was speeding west on W. Ledbetter Dr.

According to Dallas police, the 4-year-old was not secured in a child safety seat and was thrown from the vehicle. A young child, only 5 years old, sustained significant injuries as well. Authorities reported that both individuals were transported to a medical facility by emergency services. A 4-year-old child is currently in critical condition.

The 17-year-old, along with the 6-year-old, 3-year-old, and 4-month-old, has been transported to the hospital and is currently in stable condition.
