33-Year-Old Florida Woman Charged after Allegedly Attacking Child with Kitchen Pot over Chores

A 33-year-old woman from Florida is facing felony charges after allegedly seriously injuring a 9-year-old boy over a disagreement about washing dishes. Daniela Raymond was arrested on Tuesday and charged with felony aggravated child abuse resulting in great bodily harm, according to records.

The incident unfolded on Sunday evening around 6 p.m. when Miami-Dade Police responded to a home in the 1300 block of NW 111st Street in response to a possible child abuse report, Miami Fox affiliate WSVN reported. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the child, who detailed the alleged abuse.

According to a probable cause affidavit, the boy told authorities that Raymond became upset after he washed the dishes in a manner she did not approve of. In response, Raymond allegedly struck the child on the head with a kitchen pot, causing a large scalp laceration.

Not satisfied with the initial punishment, Raymond reportedly forced the child to place his hand on the kitchen table. She then allegedly hit his left hand with the pot, breaking his middle finger. The abuse continued as Raymond allegedly struck the boy on his arms, back, and stomach with the pot, before kicking him in the stomach. Authorities noted visible bruising on the child’s body, including his arms, back, and stomach.

Detectives later interviewed Raymond, though her statement was redacted in the affidavit. Authorities have not disclosed the relationship between Raymond and the child.

Raymond was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and is being held without bond. She appeared in court on Wednesday, pleading not guilty to the charges of child abuse. Raymond is scheduled to appear in court again on Thursday morning for further proceedings.
